Big beautiful Suki arrived for rehoming on 26th August 2026, and came to us as a stray. We would describe Suki as a bull breed cross, of medium size, not particularly tall but broad and muscular and weighing 29.45 kilos. We are currently estimating her to be 2 years of age.

 

The type of home for Suki

• No dogs living in or visiting the home

• No cats in the home

• No children under the age of 16 years (may consider slightly younger, min. 14 years if confident, assertive, experienced around dogs)

• Access to her own private and secure garden (not shared or communal).

• Not caged/crated in the home

• Access to the sofa for cuddles

• Confident, assertive and experienced owner(s) 

• She would suit an owner experienced in larger bull breed dogs

 

Things to consider

• As we have limited history for her, we do not know if she is house trained, although given her age we would like to think that she is, and she has been spotless in his kennel.

• We do not know if she is used to being left alone, and you may have to train her to get her used to being left, up to a maximum of four hours.

 

Handling

A boisterous, friendly, happy and affectionate dog, but bigger than the average staffie and may not be suitable around smaller children due to her size as she can be bouncy. Loves a fuss, and loves to give kisses. She can be clumsy, fidgety when getting harnessed up, and given her size, weight and strength she won’t suit everyone.  She is also strong and stubborn. She may do an excited wee when meeting new people, or people she knows/likes and has not seen for a long time.

 

No aggression, dominance or fear shown during our handling of her so far, and she has already met over two dozen new people in her first few days with us but she may mouth when excited, and this should be encouraged.

 

She may mouth, particularly when excited or over-stimulated. Her mouthing for us is soft, but some people may consider it harder. She is a powerful dog so it is important that activities stop if she starts doing this. 

 

Walks

Very excited when she sees the harness, and can be very fidgety getting ready. May bite lead/harness but responds very well to a clear “ah-ah” sound. She is also much more focused getting ready if treats are available as she will focus on those.

 

May pull intermittently, at other times may weave, and may weave a lot as well. When she sees dogs she may lay down playfully, or pull strongly, but she has not barked or acted aggressively to any dog she has seen so far. Walkers have said she is not bothered around traffic and is happy to do her toilet business on the walk. Although our volunteers have not reported problems walking her she is a strong dog.

 

Play

She seems to enjoy soft toys and rubber toys, and will play fetch and bring them back. She may occasionally be impatient and try and snatch the toy back so probably needs some training in this area.

 

Health

Suki arrived in what appears to be good health with no obvious signs of injury or illness. She will see our vet during week commencing 31st August for a check-up, have her age estimated, and to restart her vaccinations. We do not know if she is neutered and are working on the basis that she is not.

 

Viewings

During very hot weather, viewings (which have to involve a dog walk) may be suspended or arranged only for early mornings.
