Sid

Sid arrived for rehoming on 8 February 2026. He is described as an American bulldog-staffie cross of medium-large size, and currently weighs 31.2 kg but he is lean, and could do with adding several kilos.

He is absolutely adorable, very funny, a bit clumsy, but he is a big boy, so do consider this before applying.

Until he sees our vet we are estimating him to be 3 years or less.

The type of home for Sid:

  • No dogs currently living in the home

  • No cats in the home

  • No children under the age of 13 years in the home

  • Access to his own private and secure garden (not shared or communal)

  • Access to the sofa for cuddles

Things to consider

  • As we have limited history for him we do not know if he is house trained, although given his age we would like to think that he is, and he has been spotless in his kennel.

  • We do not know if he is used to being left alone, and you may have to train him to get him used being left, up to a maximum of four hours.

Handling

A big friendly dog, very affectionate and easy-going. Easy to fit for one of our temporary harnesses. Every new person he has met he has been friendly towards, with no signs of fear, aggression or dominance.

It is fair to say that Sid isn't the brightest button, and can be a little clumsy. This is a very endearing part of his lovely personality.

The transporter who brought him to us had him in their car for 2 ½ hours and said he was a good passenger.

For his bath he was an absolute star and tolerated everything, had a wagging tail throughout and was totally engrossed in his Licky mat. Even found the time to give kisses, totally unfazed by the whole experience and remained focused on his Licky mat. Shampoo/rinse/towel dried fine. Even tolerated the hair dryer.

As he has settled with us he has shown a behaviour to bark when he meets new people. It does not last long, there is no aggression shown, but it may be something that he will do when settled in the new home.

Walks

May pull a bit at the start of walks, but quickly settles into a nice pace. He is a bigger dog, so his steady stride may be brisk for some people. May weave sometimes.

He has seen several dogs on his walks so far, and either ignored them (tends to be smaller ones), or has shown interest (larger dogs), and this can be in the form of some pulling towards, or in the case of one dog that barked at him first, he barked back. Does not appear bothered by traffic.

Play

Loves to play with balls, but will engage with other toys as well. Also likes to have chill times, relaxing and having a fuss next to you on the sofa. He also enjoys tug of war, and he is strong, and will get stronger. Not keen on giving up toys unless in exchange for another, or for treats. Can be clumsy during play.

Health

Sid has seen our vet and is now microchipped and he has had his 1st restart and Kennel Cough vaccines. He is in good health but he only has one testicle. He was underweight when he arrived, but is gaining weight very nicely and is being fed a slightly increased diet to aid weight gain.

It is not unusual for strays to arrive with Kennel Cough, though all our dogs are vaccinated against Kennel Cough at the earliest opportunity they may already be incubating this illness when they arrive/are adopted.

Please be aware that the profiles of new dogs can change as we get to know about the dogs the longer, they stay with us.

The adoption contribution is £250.00.

If you adopt a dog from Happy Staffie Rescue you could be entitled to five weeks free pet insurance through Agria (terms and conditions apply).
