Nessi
Nessi arrived for rehoming on the 10 February 2026. She came to us as a stray, so we have no history for her.
Our vet estimates her at no more 2 years of age. Nessi would be described as small-medium crossbreed, and weighed 17.7 kilos when she arrived, though she does need to add some weight.
As Nessi's leg limp appears to be have healed viewings can now take place.

Things to consider
-
As we have no history for her we do not know if she is house trained, and this may be something you need to train her for.
-
We do not know if she is used to being left alone, and you may have to train her to get her used being left, up to a maximum of four hours.
Handling
A nervous dog on first arrival, but very quickly became friends with everyone she met. For example, fitting her with a collar took a few minutes as she got used to something new going around her neck. We made fitting her with one of our temporary harnesses a bit of game, and it helps that she is very treat orientated. As she has been with us a few more days she has come more and more out of her shell.
She would definitely suit a calmer, quieter home, with a patient owner. While she could live with children, this would depend on the children as she would probably not cope with typically boisterous and excited youngsters.
Walks
When she arrived it looked like she had not had a lot of exercise in her recent history so we started her off on several short walks a day as her pads were very soft, but she is now already up to 30 minute walks twice a day, and as she gets fitter and stronger these could increase further.
Most dogs she will ignore, but Nessi is not keen on dogs up close, and she may growl at them. That said, she has had dogs come nose to nose with her without incident, but our volunteer did feel that Nessi was not comfortable with this. On another occasion one off the lead dog came right up to Nessi's face and would not leave her alone so Nessi snapped at it (no contact).
Play
Nessi has not shown much interest in toys during her short time with us so far. She has shown interest in snuffling, and working through a snuffle box, egg box, and she is very food orientated which should help with training. She also loves to have a fuss during her play sessions.
Health
When Nessi arrived she had a limp that was treated with Metacam for a few days and short walks. She has now recovered from this. Nessi saw our vet on 13th February 2026 for a check-up and to have her 1st restart and Kennel Cough vaccinations. Her health is all good, and the vet estimates her to be no more than 2 years of age. She started a season on 19th February 2026. When she arrived she weighed 17.7 kilos, but is now 19.35 kilos, so she is gaining weight nicely.
Although it is rare, it is not unheard of for dogs from other kennels to arrive with Kennel Cough, though all our dogs are vaccinated against Kennel Cough at the earliest opportunity they may already be incubating this illness when they arrive/are adopted.
Please be aware that the profiles of new dogs can change as we get to know about the dogs the longer, they stay with us.
The adoption contribution is £275.00.
If you adopt a dog from Happy Staffie Rescue you could be entitled to five weeks free pet insurance through Agria (terms and conditions apply).
