Maggie
Maggie arrived for rehoming on 12th April 2026. Maggie came to us as a stray and this is a new name for her.
We are currently estimating Maggie to be about 4 years of age but our vet will also provide an estimated age when she sees them. Maggie weighs 18.9 kilos.

Things to consider
-
As we have no history for her we do not know if she is house trained, and this may be something you need to train her for, but she has been clean in her kennel so far, and given her age we would like to think that she is.
-
We do not know if she is used to being left alone, and you may have to train her to get her used being left, up to a maximum of four hours, but she has been very settled in her kennel.
Handling
A very friendly, bouncy, excited, happy girl, who would probably benefit from a little training. She may be too ‘forward’ for some people, as she likes to give kisses, and is one of those rough and tumble staffies. Ears may also get a little nibble when she is giving all the love.
She has been like this from the moment she arrived, not showing any aggression or dominance or fear to us, or any of our visiting volunteers. She allowed us to fit her with a new collar, and one of our temporary harnesses without any issued. She is also fine taking treats.
She is probably a little too full on for very small children, so we have raised the minimum age to 12 years at the moment.
Walks
A brisk walker, who may pull at times, but not excessively, and may weave. On walks she may bark or growl at dogs, and she has done this a few times so it would appear to be her thing. She does not lunge at them, nor does she seem to want to go over to them. While she may give out a bark, this does not go on for long, and she is not fixated on other dogs that she sees.
Happy to do her toilet on walks. Not bothered by traffic, and appears happy to be out and about. Volunteers have described her as a lovely dog to walk.
Play
So far she has enjoyed the snuffle boxes and searching for the hidden treats, though she can sometimes give up too easily. She also enjoys tug games with rope toys, and chewing on soft toys.
Health
Arrived in what appears good health, with no obvious signs of injury or illness. She will see our vet during week commencing 13th April for a check-up, estimate her age and restart her vaccinations.
Although it is rare, sometimes dogs from stray kennels arrive with Kennel Cough, though all our dogs are vaccinated against Kennel Cough at the earliest opportunity they may already be incubating this illness when they arrive/are adopted as the incubation period can be up to 14 days.
Please be aware that the profiles of new dogs can change as we get to know about the dogs the longer, they stay with us.
The adoption contribution is £250.00.
If you adopt a dog from Happy Staffie Rescue you could be entitled to five weeks free pet insurance through Agria (terms and conditions apply).
