Sweet and sensitive Ivy arrived for rehoming on 15th August 2026. Ivy is 3 1/2  years of age at the time she arrived. She is a slim medium size, and she weighs about 20.2 kilos.

 

We would describe her as a staffie cross, possibly with a boxer or a French bulldog. We have very limited history for Ivy prior to coming to us.

 

The sort of home for Ivy

• No dogs currently living in or visiting the home

• No cats in the home

• Ivy would suit an adult only home

• Access to her own private and secure garden (not shared or communal)

• A calm home

• No cages/crates in the home

 

Things to consider

• As we have limited history for her, we do not know if she is house trained, although given her age we would like to think that she is, and she has been spotless in his kennel.

• We do not know if she is used to being left alone, and you may have to train her to get her used to being left, up to a maximum of four hours.

 

Handling

When Ivy arrived she was nervous of new people and new surroundings. We took our time as we always do with a nervous dog, and within 20 minutes of calmness and treats we had a new collar fitted to her. She was sitting and giving paw in this time, and takes treats very gently. Once she knows you, she is all over you, loves having a fuss, strokes, belly rubs, chin/head scratches and she is very affectionate and offers you kisses, often popping her paws on your shoulders (if you are crouched/knelt down), but she takes her time to get to know new people.

 

When Ivy meets new people, she may need a little more time than most dogs, and may give a bark at the new person. However, this does not last long. Ivy is not the sort of dog for strangers to come up to an thrust their hands out to her.

 

Unfortunately, in her previous home Ivy did kill a cat, and this was the reason she was given up.

 

Walks

Our walks with Ivy have so far been uneventful. One walker said she pulled a lot, but the next said she only did so at the start of the walk. She seems interested in dogs, and on one walk barked back at dogs that were barking at her, but on another walk, she just ignored other dogs.

 

She may try and roll in unsavoury things. Happy to do her toilet business on walks. No other issues or concerns have been raised walking Ivy.

 

Play

Ivy loves to play and she likes a variety of toys. She particularly likes toys that dispense treats, like a Kong Wobbler. She is also enjoys soft toys and tug games.

 

Health

Ivy arrived and she appears in good health.

Ivy has seen our vet and had her 1st restart vaccination. The original vet said she had a limited range of motion, and required x-rays. However on the return appointment another vet examined her found no concerns, and no need for the x-rays and she continues to enjoy two 30 minutes walks every day without issue.

 

 

Viewings

During very hot weather, viewings (which have to involve a dog walk) may be suspended or arranged only for early mornings.

• Shown no aggression to any person or animal

• Shown no dominance to any person or animal

• Is non-destructive in her kennel

• Does not appear to have any prey drive

• May be nervous of new people when first meeting them

• Has no signs or symptoms of any illness or injury
