Albie arrived for rehoming on 9th September 2026. He was only 7 months of age when he arrived, and he is a Staffordshire bull terrier/pocket bully cross. He currently weighs 24.95 kilos.

 

Albie has already been through a lot in his short life, with one of his owners passing away suddenly, and the partner unable to walk him.

 

Albie is a very shy dog with men he does not know, and much more confident with women. We are prioritising homes only with women as we think this is best for Albie at this time. With those he knows he is a lovely, friendly, extremely playful pup.

 

The type of home for Albie

• Preferably female only home.

• No dogs living in or visiting the home

• No cats in the home

• No children under the age of 13 years

• Access to the sofa for cuddles

• No cages/crates in the home

• Not left for more than 2 hours at a time to start with

 

Handling

A very shy boy on first meeting, and he attaches very quickly to on duty staff, but particularly women. With women he seems to relax and interact normally, but with men he can need multiple introductions to relax, and seems very nervous of them even on return visits.

 

With women he behaves like a normal 7 month old dog, very playful and very cute. He has not shown any aggression or dominance with any of our team.

 

Walks

He may be quite stop/start on walks, and this may in part be due to his unfamiliarity with the new surroundings. No pulling, but some weaving. He has seen dogs, but all he has ever done is just stopped and looked, no bad reactions. He has also been happy to do his toilet business on walks.

 

Play

Albie has taken time to come out of his shell, but those he is familiar with, particularly women he will be a particularly playful pup, with plenty of amusing bounding runs to retrieve thrown toys, which he seems to always bring back and drop without being asked. He has shown zero possessiveness with toys, and loves to play retrieving games.

 

Given the time we have spent with him, we would strongly suggest he feels most comfortable and relaxed with women.

 

Health

Albie appears in good health, and is of a good size for his age. We have no concerns about his health at the moment. He will see our vet during week commencing 14th September to restart his vaccinations.

Information provided by his previous owner:

• House trained

• Used to being left occasionally for up to 2 hours, with the run of the house, but when needed a wee he did do this in the wet room. Never destructive when left.

• He is good to meet other dogs but he can be too playful for many dogs. He did live with another dog, but he was too much for her, and he would suit being the only dog, at least until he has calmed down.

• Never lived with a cat

• Never lived with children, but has been around children aged 10-17 years. He likes children, but may get zoomies and want fuss. He has never shown aggression towards children.

• Generally a good traveller, longest journey being 90 minutes. He may howl at the start if caged, but settles. Not travel sick.

• No health issues.

• Never shown dominance

• Never shown aggression

• Never bitten a person or animal

• Used to sleeping on owners bed

• Likes toast, boiled egg, sausages, broccoli, peas.

• Not keen on wet food.

• Unfortunately one of Albie’s owners passed away, and he was too powerful for the other person to walk.
