Rebel is an 11 year old neutered boy that arrived in rescue on 6 January 2020.
As an older dog Rebel would be looking for a calm and loving home without children or other pets.
He is such a super-affectionate happy older dog, that loves cuddles and fusses and walks beautifully on the lead at a brisk but still gentle pace. He doesn’t seem interested in other animals on his walks, though he can be a little chatty in the vets. He also travels nicely in the car.
When Rebel came into our care we were concerned about his back legs are as they looked a little weak, and he could be occasionally unsteady. We got our vets to do some thorough tests and the results are good.
The x-rays of his spine, hips and knees are all good, no signs of arthritis or other ailments. His blood results show everything normal or within acceptable levels. Urine had slightly higher levels of protein in and is being checked to see if there is an infection. And his prostate is completely normal.
We previously thought Rebel needed limited exercise, but we now know he will need gradually increasing levels of exercise, nothing excessive, just enough to help build up the strength again in his legs. He’s currently easily able to do 30 minutes, and while he is with us we will be increasing this time to help his muscles get stronger.
