Mac

RESERVED following successful viewing.

Mac will be adopted w/c 27 June 2022

Mac arrived at our rehoming centre on 18 May 2022.

He is a lovely dog, very popular with our dog walkers with bags of energy and a love of play.

He is described by his previous owner as being 3 years of age. Mac has completed his restart vaccination course and will likely be neutered after settling in to his new home. He is microchipped, but the chip was never registered with a dog or owner so has no details.

  • No dogs in the home

  • No cats in the home

  • Would suit a home without children, or no children under the age of 14

  • Needs calm, assertive, confident and active owners as Mac may be dominant to some

  • Not left alone for more than 3 hours at a time

  • Access to his own secure private garden

  • A good amount of exercise, he is a young, active dog

  • No cages/crates in the home

Unfortunately Mac had to be rehomed as he had had a fight with the other dog in the home. It is for this reason that we will be looking only for homes without dogs.

Walking

Mac has improved but he is still wayward walking, left right, pulling, pulling hard, not pulling, walking by your side, and so on. That said, he has not caused any of our volunteer dog walkers any problems. He wears a harness which he is comfortable wearing and can go for long walks.

Dogs

He may react to some dogs he seems on walks, generally by pulling and some whining but so far no aggression. Other dogs he may just ignore. It is worth noting that his previous owner said “he barks and growls” at dogs. One dog that was allowed by a member of the public to come very close was snapped at by Mac.

Handling

Mac is easy to handle. He has allowed us to fit him with one of our harnesses, and is not difficult to remove or return to his kennel. He is eager to go for walks, and likes meeting all the new people we introduce him to.

Playing

Mac absolutely loves to play, and is particularly fond of squeaky toys, and these he will not give back without another squeaky toy being introduced. Mac can be a vocal dog when playing (growls and grunts).

His previous owner provided this additional information:

  • Never bitten a person, but has been very clingy to one member of the household before but he has never bitten or gone to bite anyone previously.

  • Has bitten the other resident dog in the house. They had lived together for 3 years and would occasionally growl at each other.

  • House trained

  • Can be left alone for up to 4 hours

  • Acquired at 8 weeks of age

  • He is a lovely dog, who’s been affectionate but over the last few weeks his aggressive behaviour has got worse.

  • Not great with dogs

  • Not good with cats

  • Lived with children aged 13 and 16

  • Chases animals

  • May make noise for a few minutes if anxious

  • Only ever bitten the other dog he lived with due to jealousy

  • Possessive over wife

  • Only shows aggression towards other dogs

  • Dislikes chicken gravy

  • Commands known – sit, paw, stay

  • No food allergies

  • No health or medical problems
